AEW Full Gear 2022 Predictions

I for one am so stoked for this show, because for one, I have never watched an AEW PPV live, and two, I’m going to watch MJF win the AEW World Heavyweight Championship for the first time (probably).

Eddie Kingston vs Jun Akiyama
Prediction: Eddie Kingston

The Best Friends, Rocky Romero, and Danhausen vs The Factory
Prediction: The Best Friends, Rocky Romero, and Danhausen

AEW World Championship Eliminator Tournament Semifinal
Brian Cage vs Ricky Starks
Prediction: Brian Cage

Jeff Jarrett & Jay Lethal vs Sting & Darby Allin

I think Jarrett will win his first AEW match and this will possibly lead to planting some seeds for Sting and Darby breaking up.

Prediction: Jeff Jarrett and Jay Lethal

Dr. Britt Baker vs Saraya

We’re going to see a deviation from the typical return match and Saraya will take a loss.

Prediction: Dr. Britt Baker

Steel Cage Match
Luchasaurus vs Jungle Boy

It’s gotta be Jungle Boy right? The saga of Luchasaurus/Jungle Boy/Christian Cage has been going on for over a year now and it’s made for some great long term storytelling. Jungle Boy hasn’t gotten the better of the two antagonists very often so I think he’s due for a win.

Prediction: Jungle Boy

AEW TBS CHAMPIONSHIP
Nyla rose vs jade Cargill

Without a doubt, this is the easiest match to predict, it’s going to be Jade Cargill getting her hand raised.

Prediction: Jade Cargill

AEW TNT Championship
Powerhouse Hobbs vs Samoa Joe vs Wardlow

The internet is quite divided when it comes to this match and for good reason. I feel like any of the three could win and I like that feeling. An argument could be made for any of them winning but I’m doing predictions so I have to pick someone and I’m going with Samoa Joe because his name is Joe.

Prediction: Samoa Joe

AEW World Trios Championship
The Elite vs The Death Triangle

This, more than any other match on the card has the chance to steal the show and it’ll probably do just that.

Prediction: The Elite

AEW World Tag Team Championship
Swerve in Our Glory vs The Acclaimed

SCISSOR ME BRO! I liken the scissor me thing to that of Rusev Day from a few years ago. I like it in the sense that it’s goofy as hell and it’s getting over. That’s the beauty of the pro wrestling business, you never know what’s going to catch on. I say let the Acclaimed continue to ride this wave of popularity and retain.

Prediction: The Acclaimed

Interim AEW Women’s World Championship
Jaime Hayter vs Toni Storm

I don’t have much for this match but I will say I think Jamie Hayter winning makes for some better stories after Full Gear. She can go on to feud with Britt Baker or be a good opponent for Thunder Rosa to face when she returns to determine the Undisputed AEW Women’s World Champion.

Prediction: Jamie Hayter

RoH World Heavyweight Championship
Four-Way Match
Sammy Guevara vs Claudio Castagnoli vs Bryan Danielson vs Chris Jericho

Not gonna lie, I don’t see how it makes sense storyline wise for Guevara to be in this match. Don’t get me wrong Guevara being in there is only going to add to the match, I’m just saying I missed how and/or why he made it in there.

Given the talent involved I’d be shocked if they earn any less than a four star match and as for the winner, I have to go with Chris Jericho retaining. Him going after the former champions of Ring of Honor has made for some compelling television and I’m not ready for that angle to be done yet. Sammy being in the match makes for some interesting scenarios.

Prediction: Chris Jericho

AEW World Heavyweight Championship
MJF vs Jon Moxley

I’m going to veer off course for a bit. I’ve got a story to tell with this prediction and it begins with me giving a persuasive speech about procrastination a few day before I graduated high school 16 years ago (where does the time go?). I chose procrastination because it was something (and still is) that I struggled with for all of my time in school. I put off writing the speech and ended up writing the speech on writing the speech. Now what does that have to do with pro wrestling? Keep reading.

Since seeing Clerks 3 a couple months ago I’ve felt a renewed sense of motivation. What does Clerks 3 have to do with this story you might be asking? Well the message I took away from Clerks 3 was “don’t wait to follow your dreams because you could be gone at any moment.”

Where Clerks 3 left off is where MJF picked up, at least in my eyes. This guys been following his dream (something I should’ve been doing all along) and he’s got the chance to win the big one this Saturday. Since returning at AEW All Out he’s been delivering nothing but gold, granted it’s mostly been promos but I can feel the fire behind the words he’s been saying. Much of which is the same thing I’ve been saying in regards to myself since seeing Clerks 3.

I think MJF’s about to have himself a long run with the World Championship similar to the run Roman Reigns is having. This will be MJF’s crowning moment and I’m super stoked for him. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t jealous of him but it’s my fault for taking so long to get started.

The thing about me is I have two big dreams, the oldest of which is to be a professional wrestler, that has always appealed to me but I always fell back on the excuse I don’t have the size to make it. I’ve recently had a change of heart and decided to pursue this dream. I figure I’m 34 so I’ve got a little bit of time left to make that dream a reality but it’s definitely now or never, I’m not getting any younger and it’s going to be harder the longer I wait.

The other dream I have is to make a movie, that’s a big dream as well and one that means a lot to me for different reasons but one I can chase when I’m a little older. Hence I’ve made pro wrestling THE priority.

One last thing about this match is someone on Facebook pointed out the possibility of MJF speaking of William Regal when he stated “the greatest thing the devil ever did was convincing the world that he doesn’t exist.” Meaning William Regal would be turning on Jon Moxley. That would be great and a swell pairing.

Prediction: MJF
